Shinco SPS5-12C Review.
The Shinco SPS5-12C is an affordable portable air conditioner for medium size rooms.
It’s a newer unit, but so far has exceeded expectations — many love that it delivers quick cooling in an energy efficient way.
As a modern portable ac unit, the Shinco SPS5 and SPF2 models are equipped with a self-evaporative system.
** FYI: the self-evaporative system is the secret to better energy efficiency. Later in the review I give a brief overview.

For this review I’ll focus on the 12,000 BTU air conditioner.
Shinco SPS5-12C Air Conditioner Review:
As mentioned, the Shinco SPS5-12C is perfect for medium size rooms up to 400 sq. ft.
From reviews, buyers are using for:
– city apartments/flats
– dorm rooms
– bedrooms (it’s very quiet!)
– home offices
– RVs and campers
– cabins
Buyers love how quietly it runs on lower speeds.
One user detailed how she uses it at max speed to quickly cool her bedroom to 70° — once that temp is reached, she switches to “silent mode” and lets it run all night.
Silent mode: ≤ 52 decibels

For rooms 400 – 650 sq. ft. I suggest the Shinco SPS5-14H.

As a mid-size portable air conditioner, the Shinco SPS5-12C is perfect for bedrooms or apartments.
The Shinco SPS5-12C includes a high-end dehumidifier which removes up to 75 pints of air moisture each day (per 24 hours).
Dehumidifier: 90 pints (11.25 gallons)
Similar size dehumidifiers (without the air conditioner) can cost $200+ which makes the Shinco that much more affordable.
It also includes 3 fan speeds.
All features can be changed on the ac itself or by using the remote control.
Shinco SPS5-12C Air Conditioner:
The Shinco SPS5-12C offers fast cooling, but thanks to its dehumidifier its able to use a self-evaporative system to lower energy costs.
Self-evaporative system: used to cool the condenser coils with water from the dehumidifier.
This decreases the energy required to operate the air conditioner. It also reduces water in the tank (so you won’t have to empty as often).
Lower energy means cheaper electric bills — the Shinco SPS5 models will save you money longterm.

Conclusion:
The Shinco SPS5 models are newer, but lots of positive reviews so far.
I’ve reviewed many portable air conditioners and the Shinco SPS5 and SPF2 units are looking to be top sellers in 2020.
Not only are they very affordable, but they include a powerful dehumidifier and self-evaporative systems (to keep your energy bills lower).
For anyone looking to cool a medium size room, I highly suggest the Shinco SPS5-10C or SPS5-12C portable air conditioners.
Personally I think it’s the best affordable option available.
