It’s a no-brainer that everybody likes a bit of convenience in their homes which is why smart devices are gaining in popularity year-over-year.

On that note — there is a high chance that you will buy a smart robot vacuum in the next 3-4 years.

Look no further than the new Ecovacs Deebot R95 which does a lot more than the average vacuum cleaner. It certainly lives up to the hype as it offers multiple cleaning modes:

Vacuuming
Mopping (wet or dry)
Sweeping

Deebot R95 Review – Features:

The Deebot R95 is quite similar to other smart vacuums in terms of a sleek, low profile design that lets it easily navigate through low sitting furniture.

Dimensions: 35.4 x 35.4 x 10.2 cm

It is however on the larger side weighing 4.8 kg (2.2 pounds).

You will find a sensor that detects obstacles in its way right at the front of the vacuum cleaner.

This feature also gives the R95 the ability to map every inch of your house, room by room.

And to avoid bumping into furniture (and sleeping dogs), it has a circular navigation sensor on the side.

Just at the top, you will also find 4 indicator lights: Spot Cleaning, Charging, Wi-Fi and Scheduling

Once you flip the lid open, you will find the power switch and large, 520 milliliter dustbin. It is easy to pull out and put back the 520ml dustbin and you will typically get +1 extra brush with the vacuum. You will probably want to use the replacement 1-year into using.

First off, the Ecovacs Deebot R95 does all the basics well + it’s super easy to control.

It is WiFi compatible with the Ecovacs Mobile App and Amazon Alexa.

In terms of pricing it is on the expensive side, but still relatively affordable. There are many robot vacuums which cost a lot more and do not offer nearly as many features.

How it works:

Once you download the Deebot mobile app, you can adjust the vacuum/mopping settings to make it more suitable for your home. It’s fairly simple to set up.

After going through the registration and setup process you will want it to start mapping your home and “cleaning zones”.

Simply select AUTO option and let the R95 create a map as it freely roams about your home. Just ensure that you clear any obstacles from its way beforehand so that it can get an accurate floor layout.

Using advanced sensors and Ecovac’s Smart Navigation 3.0, it will make a determined path wherever you command it to go.

With the mobile app you can schedule cleaning sessions, ask it to clean the entire home or send specific rooms/areas of your home.

You can even set it up on SPOT mode to clean very specific areas within a room. (Ex: potato chip crumbs near the couch)

The battery life for the Deebot R95 is approximately 90 minutes (1.5 hours) of cleaning time. If you have a larger home and it takes more time, the robot vacuum will return to its charging dock and pick up where it left off.

A downside is the charge time of approximately 3-4 hours for full battery. Since it sits on the charging dock while not operating, it shouldn’t be a huge problem.

One thing you will notice is that the R95 always sticks to its track – its Smart Navigation allows it to vacuum in symmetric rows.

Track lines on the carpet (just like a lawn mower) will leave clean, neat wheel lines on your carpet.

Power & Performance:

The Deebot R95 is one of the most advanced robot vacuum — it includes smart navigation which lets it map and construct easy paths throughout rooms.

You can also block areas that you do not want the robot to clean. You can test that by blocking areas/rooms on the mobile app and the R95 will avoid it accordingly.

It can run for 90 minutes before needing a recharge which is average, but should be enough.

Online reviews say that the 69.5 dB sound level is reasonable – lower than most robot vacuums and higher than upright vacs.

The best feature is the do-not-disturb setting that prevents the vacuum from running during specific times.

In addition, it has an interchangeable suction option that enables it to pick up debris, hair and any other bits and bobs on the floor. The interchangeable suction is especially great if you have dogs or other pets – it’s excellent at picking up hair.

With its multiple modes of cleaning, the R95 can handle a wide range of floor types: tile, hardwood, carpet and even ridges. (You will, however, need to clear the floor of loose cords to eliminate obstacles.)

Deebot R95 Review – Mopping Ability:

The Deebot R95 not only vacuums but is also has a dry/wet mopping option.

It comes with a water tank that appears easy to use. Just connect the tank to the underside of the R5 and fill it with water and attach a cleaning cloth. That’s all that’s needed to start its mopping cycle.

One side of the mopping system stays dry while the other wets the cleaning cloth so that it works in a simultaneous process of washing and drying the floor.

The downside – the mopping system can only use water.

Soaps and detergents may damage the components of the R95. Seems like you will get the same results as wiping your floor with a wet cloth, but at least you won’t have to do it yourself!
