** I’ll add #9-10 best chainsaw Canada soon!
What size chainsaw blade do I need?
Having the right size chainsaw bar is critical when choosing an electric chainsaw.
The general rule is that a chainsaw blade should be 2″ longer than the size of the wood you are cutting.
If you choose a smaller blade you can still get the job done but it will effect its long-term durability – Small blade chainsaws are usually lighter weight which is why they are preferred by homeowners.
Most electric chainsaws are equipped with blade sizes between 14” and 20”.
Also, the large chainsaw blades have more kickback.
For homeowners I recommend a chainsaw and blade that is between 12 and 16 inches. They are still lightweight for most people and kickback effect is relatively low.
Trimming and pruning can be accomplished with a 12-inch electric chainsaw.
For firewood cutting I suggest a large, heavy duty electric chainsaw w/ 16-22 inch blade.
For normal branches, the 12 to 16 inch blade should do the trick!
