For 2020 they expanded their portable AC series to include more sizes for larger rooms — still the BPACT08WT appears to be the most popular.

What’s surprising is how affordable they are — compared to similar BTU sizes, each is 10-15% cheaper.

For this review I’ll refer to the BPACT08WT (8000 BTU) portable unit.

The 8,000 BTU is perfect for smaller rooms.

Reading buyer reviews I notice a lot of purchases are for city apartments — many buyers love how quickly it’s able to cool rooms in peak summer months.

FYI — I’m using info found on Black and Decker website. Some info online is incorrect (i.e. actual room size is 15 x 10 ft.)

Black & Decker BPACT08WT Review:

I personally think the Black and Decker Portable ACs are some of the best options available online — Amazon had the best price compared to other sites (in the USA).

If there’s a notable downside, it’s the noise level.

Black & Decker’s portable AC is louder than comparable models.

At 75 decibels it’s loud, but that’s running at max power — might be loud initially, but to maintain temperature it likely ranges 54 to 60 dBs.

Overall, I think the Black and Decker BPACT08WT is perfect for most scenarios. It’s quick to cool rooms and runs quietly when maintaining a cooler temperature.

Lots of positive buyer reviews and the price is very reasonable!
